LOLER Compliance
LOLER INSPECTIONS
KENT & LONDON
Reed Lifts carries out statutory LOLER thorough examinations on stairlifts, platform lifts, hoists, and through-floor lifts across Kent and London. As a specialist lift engineer and qualified LOLER competent person, Harry provides inspection reports that meet your legal obligation — and can carry out any remedial work on the spot.
Reports issued same day. No third-party inspector. One company for the inspection and the fix.
WHAT IS A LOLER INSPECTION?
LOLER — the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 — requires that all lifting equipment used at work is thoroughly examined at regular intervals by a competent person. For stairlifts, platform lifts, and hoists in care homes, supported living, and commercial premises, this is a legal requirement, not optional.
Inspections must be carried out every 6 months for equipment used to lift people, and every 12 months for equipment used to lift loads. After each inspection, a statutory examination report must be issued and retained.
Every 6 months
Equipment used to lift people (stairlifts, platform lifts, hoists)
Every 12 months
Equipment used to lift loads only
Statutory report required
Written examination report must be issued and kept on record

WHY CHOOSE REED LIFTS FOR YOUR LOLER INSPECTION?
Specialist, not generalist
We only inspect lifting equipment. No rope access, no forklifts. Stairlifts, platform lifts, and hoists are all we do — which means our inspection is more thorough than a general engineer who covers everything.
Inspection and remedial work in one visit
Most inspection companies identify defects and leave. We carry the parts and the skills to carry out minor remedial work on the same visit, minimising downtime for your residents or users.
Same-day statutory reports
Your LOLER examination report is issued the same day, in the format required for compliance records. No chasing. No delays.
Service contracts available
For care homes and housing associations managing multiple lifts, we offer annual inspection contracts with scheduled visits, automatic report issuance, and priority call-out rates.
