A support network for lift engineers
STUCK ON A FAULT?
GET ANSWERS FAST.
A private group for platform lift and access engineers. Somewhere to ask when you're stuck, pass work between firms, and find someone local when a job lands the wrong end of the country.
Free to join. Ask, share work, source parts, and keep the useful answers so the next engineer can find them.
Join the communityWhy this exists
When I started on lifts, if I was stuck on a job I'd ring an older engineer who'd seen it before. A lot of younger engineers don't have that now. On a job on their own, stuck, with no one to call.
The idea
SOLVE IT ONCE. KEEP IT.
Somebody works it out, we write it up, and the next engineer with that fault finds the answer instead of asking again. That is the bit the free groups have never done.
ASK
Photo and a question, to engineers who work the same kit.
SOLVE
Someone who has had it before tells you what it was.
SAVE
The ones worth keeping get written up properly.
FIND
Next person with that fault searches instead of asking.
Who it's for
BUILT FOR THE PERSON ON THE TOOLS
NEVER WORK A FAULT ALONE
Whether you're newly qualified or years in, sometimes you just need someone who's seen it before.
- Ask without feeling daft in front of a customer
- Learn from faults other engineers are hitting
- Build a network beyond your own firm
BACK UP YOUR JUNIORS
Put your junior engineers in the group so they've always got someone to ask, even when your seniors are tied up.
- Fewer failed first visits and return trips
- Juniors get up to speed faster
- Support that doesn't pull your best engineers off site
KEPT SMALL.
KEPT USEFUL.
NO TIME-WASTERS.
A members-only group for lift engineers who actually turn up and share what they know. That's the whole idea.
How it works
SEPARATE ROOMS. LESS NOISE.
ReedConnect is live as a WhatsApp Community. Join once, then use the room that fits the job: general trade chat, engineering help, parts, or work and cover. It is free to join.
General chat
- Engineers outside your own firm
- Work passed on and picked up
- Someone local when a job is miles away
- General trade and industry help
Engineers chat
- Post a photo and a question on the harder faults
- Engineers who have worked that unit before, and may have seen it
- Fault finding with engineers who work the same kit
Parts chat
- Obsolete spares and hard-to-find parts
- Who has what on the shelf
- Part numbers and supplier help
Work & cover
- Pass work between firms
- Find an engineer near a distant job
- Ask for short-term cover
DRAWINGS AND MANUALS
Wiring diagrams, fault codes and manuals for specific units, where we're allowed to share them. Ask for the one you're stood in front of and it gets posted into the room.
Neither that nor the fault library exists in the free groups already out there. Where they end up sitting depends on what people actually use.
